24 hours to Give Where You Live

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - People will have the opportunity to give back this holiday season to nonprofits in their area.

Thursday, December 7 marks the 5th year for Give Where You Live.

It's a 24 hour giving event for 149 organizations in the Kearney and Buffalo County area.

For people who want to donate, there are a number of nonprofits to choose from. You can find a full list of nonprofits HERE.

Judi Sickler, president and CEO of the Kearney Area Community Foundation, said people love the concept of giving where you live and giving back this time of the year.

Sickler adds that the organizations that sign up with them, 80 percent of what is raised from Give Where You Live stays local. They don't want it to leak
out of the Kearney area.

To give online, you just need to go to GiveWhereYouLive.Net. From there, you have the option to browse through the different nonprofits available. You can select the organization you would like and add it to your shopping cart. Once you're done shopping, you check out and donate.

For people who don't want to donate online, you can head over to the Kearney Area Community Foundation. They are located right behind the old K-Mart and Target on 48th Street in Kearney. You can drop off cash, checks and enjoy the festivities from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
