HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings city officials expect to name a new police chief sometime in the next couple of weeks.
The city council has finished interviewing the finalists to replace Pete Kortum, who retires December 15 after five years as police chief.
Kortum was named police chief in 2012 and previous to that had served in the Grand Island police department for many years.
The Hastings police department Monday hosted a retirement reception in Kortum's honor. Kortum said he and his wife Mary will move to Chattanooga, TN, to be close to family.
Hastings mayor Corey Stutte told KSNBLocal4 that an announcement on the new police chief should be coming within the next two weeks.
