Columbus officer shot by suspect released from hospital

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A Columbus officer, who was injured in a gunfight with a wanted suspect has been released from the hospital, officials said.

Columbus Police Sergeant Brad Wangler was released from the hospital, according to an announcement from the department on Tuesday morning.

CPD say they are appreciative of all the support that has been given to them, Sgt. Wangler, and the Wangler family.

The department asks, “That you understand that Sergeant Wangler is still recovering and will be spending needed time with his wife and children. Please respect that time and allow them the privacy to take care of each other.”

Jorje Robledo, 24, the wanted suspect who was also injured in the gunfight, was last reported to be in stable condition.
