Deputy challenges Watson for Hall County sheriff

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) Republican voters will have a choice for Hall county sheriff in the upcoming May primary election.

In a Facebook post, deputy sheriff Rick Conrad announced that he's running for the Republican nomination against incumbent Jerry Watson. The two will face each other on the Republican ballot in the May primary. So far, no-one has filed on the Democratic ballot for the sheriff's position.

In the Facebook post, Conrad said he's been a Hall county deputy for 25 years in the criminal investigation division, K9 handler division, SWAT team and Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Street Task force.

KSNB Local 4 will update this story and seek comment from Sheriff Watson.
