Kool-Aid Days fun at the Hastings Museum

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Get ready for a "Wild Wild Watermelon" weekend in Hastings as thousands of people head to central Nebraska for the 21st annual Kool-Aid Days celebration.

It gets underway Friday, August 10 and goes through Sunday, August 12.

There are plenty of things to do including meeting the Kool-Aid Man, quenching your thirst at the World's Largest Kool-Aid Stand or just enjoying all the different activities going on throughout Hastings.

One place that is excited about Kool-Aid Days is the Hastings Museum.

Marketing Director Becky Tideman said the museum has special hours, special activities and special prices for the celebration.

The number you have to remember is five. It's just $5 to get into the museum each day and you can event check out the movies playing for just $5.

Friday
- Museum opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m.
- Free Kool-Aid Up Close presentation: 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. (Museum membership or paid admission required)
- Free solar observing: 1 to 5 p.m., weather permitting
- Free Kool-Aid Stand with 5 original flavors: 1 to 5 p.m.
- Planetarium- every hour from 1 to 5 p.m. (with paid admission)
- Free Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest: 1 to 5 p.m.

Saturday
- Museum opens from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Free Kool-Aid Stand with 5 original flavors: 1 to 5 p.m.
- Free solar observing: 1 to 5 p.m., weather permitting
- Free Watermelon activity: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting
- Planetarium- every hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with paid admission)

Sunday
- Museum opens from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Free Egg Drop Challenge: 1 to 4 p.m.
- Free Kool-Aid Stand with 5 original flavors: 1 to 5 p.m.
- Free solar observing: 1 to 5 p.m., weather permitting
- Planetarium- every hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with paid admission)
