KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) A tragic car crash in February 2017 will result in prison terms for an Amherst man.

Kalen Pfeiffer, 24, of rural Amherst, was convicted in Buffalo County District Court on two counts of manslaughter. Prosecutors dropped a related drunk driving charge.

Monday a judge sentenced Pfeiffer to at least two and not more than ten years in prison on each of the two manslaughter convictions. The prison sentences will be served concurrently, or at the same time for each conviction.

The crash occurred just before 3 a.m. on Feb. 4th last year on a gravel road northwest of Amherst in Buffalo County. Investigators say a large pickup driven by Pfeiffer and carrying five other adults ran off the roadway and rolled.

Amber Frerichs, 21, of Bassett, and Neal Maloley, 29, of Kearney, died at the scene.
