SCHUYLER, Neb. - A woman is dead and a man is hospitalized with injuries from a traffic accident near Schuyler early Saturday morning.

A Colfax County deputy was on patrol around 2:15 a.m. when he came across a rolled Chevy Tahoe on the north side of Highway 30 just west of County Road 4. The vehicle's headlights were on.

The deputy then noticed 41-year-old Angel A. Velazquez lying near the Tahoe in the grassy median. Velazquez was still conscious.

The deputy also noticed 37-year-old Amy L. Mindrup of Columbus near the Tahoe.

Fire and rescue crews responded and both parties were taken to a local hospital where Mindrup was pronounced dead. Velazquez was transferred via medical helicopter to a Lincoln hospital for treatment of injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening.

Authorities do not believe seatbelts were used.

The vehicle was registered to Mindrup.

The Colfax County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash.
