Two Grand Island men arrested on weapons charges

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB)- Two Grand Island men are in jail after an early morning incident involving a handgun and a knife on Wednesday.

According to Grand Island police, an officer was called to Cherokee and Old Potash Highway in West Grand Island just after midnight on Wednesday morning.

The call indicated that shots had been fired from one of the two vehicles at that intersection.

Police arrested 25-year-old Billy Aguilar after finding a pistol tucked into his belt. Another vehicle fled the scene but was stopped a short time later, police then arrested 26-year-old Devon Reaves after they found a knife underneath his seat.

It's not clear if shots were fired, but Aguilar's pistol had two empty chambers.
