Annual golf classic planned, scheduled for United Way
The 25th annual event will take place July 17
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After initially cancelling the event, United Way of South Central Nebraska has rescheduled its annual Golf Classic for July 17.
The event was supposed to take place in May and, on a “normal” year, serves as the first, big golf event of the season. Due to other cancellations and closures the organization was left with one option: cancel the event.
After discussing with the South Heartland District Health Department, Lochland Country Club [where the event is held] and other local officials, United Way decided there would be a way to safely hold the event without many changes.
“Ultimately we decided that there are still people who want to golf,” Jodi Graves, Executive Director of United Way SCNE, said. “People are looking for something to do right now and golf seems to be that safe option for us so, with a few adjustments to allow for social distancing and things like that, we think that we have a great plan.”
The event is one of United Way’s primary fundraisers, bringing in money from individuals, businesses and organizations and giving that money to serve local nonprofits in the area.
There are various “levels” sponsorships can register with, ranging from $25 to $1,000. The event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Lochland Country Club on July 17.
United Way is monitoring the COVID-19 situation and will make changes as necessary. To register, or if you have any questions, you can visit the organization’s website https://unitedwayscne.org/events/.
