Kearney Public Schools classes start Aug. 13
Detailed "blue-print" provides 5 scenarios related to pandemic severity
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Classes in the Kearney Public Schools are scheduled to begin August 13, but the district is planning a flexible approach so it can adjust to whatever current pandemic restrictions exist.
The district posted a “blue-print” on its website this week. The blue-print provides five different scenarios for instruction ranging from school as usual to complete remote learning. There are also plans for what will happen in individual buildings if students, teachers, staff, or their families would test positive.
The plan will also require temperature checks twice-a-day for students. Teachers and staff will be required to check their own temperatures every morning and again at lunch time.
There are guidelines for field trips, meals, recess, hand washing, restrooms and water fountains.
The district will also provide face masks and/or shields. Whether students and teachers are required to wear them will depend on which Directed Health Measure (DHM) is in place at a particular time.
