HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Casey Burnham was waiting on second base in the bottom of the first inning at Duncan Field when a lightning delay went into effect.

Over an hour later, play resumed with Cole Evans at the plate. Evans didn’t mess around, taking the third pitch in the at bat over the 370 feet sign in left field to give the Sodbusters the 2-0 lead. It was the first home run hit at Duncan Field in 2020.

Hastings never looked back as they pounded the Sabre Dogs 11-1.

The win was their sixth in their last seven games, and improves their record to 8-7 on the year. It is the first time the Sodbusters have been over .500 this season.

They will look to clinch the four game series with the Sabre Dogs tomorrow night at Duncan Field at 6:35 p.m.
