Sodbusters move closer to Clark Division lead

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings Sodbusters (10-9) moved to a half game back of the Fremont Moo for the Clark Division lead, beating the Western Nebraska Pioneers, 7-3.

Jeremy Schneider started on the mound for the Sodbusters going 3.0 innings, allowing no runs and one hit. On offense, the lineup struggled against Pioneer starter Chandler Young. Hastings went scoreless for four innings before scoring five runs in the fifth inning.

The middle of the order paced Hasting’s offense. The trio of Ryan McDonald, Grant Schmidt and Griffin Everitt combined for six hits and five RBIs.

The Sodbusters and Pioneers face each other in the rubber match Friday night. First pitch set for 6:35 pm.
