HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings Sodbusters dropped its home series to the Western Nebraska Pioneers, losing the series finale, 12-4.

It was a 7-run sixth inning by the Pioneers that would put Hastings into a five-run deficit. Spencer Marenco paced Western Nebraska’s offense, going 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 walks.

Drew Behling had quite the night in the batters box for Hastings going 4-for-4, accounting for 2-runs. Shortstop Dylan Herd led the team with 2 RBI.

Jay Alvarez had an eventful night on the mound for the Sodbusters. He got out of numerous jams in his 4.0 innings without allowing a run.

Sodbusters and Pioneers are back at it again this time in Gering for another three-game series. First pitch set 7:35 p.m. CT.
