Sodbusters sweep road series over Pioneers

GERING, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings Sodbusters complete the road sweep over Clark Division foe Western Nebraska, 5-2. The win keeps their half game lead over Fremont in the Clark Division.

Hastings got another stellar performance from starter Reese Dutton, a day after Shay Schanaman threw the first no-hitter in team history. Dutton pitched 7.0 innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out nine batters.

Sodbusters bats did all their damage in the second inning, when they scored five runs. Ryan Anderson led the team with three hits while Connor Laux and Casey Burnham each provided 2 RBI’s.

The win improves the Sodbusters to 13-10. Next up is a big series on the road against division rival Fremont. Winner of the series will take the lead of the Clark Division. First pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
