Western Nebraska shuts down Hastings offense

GERING, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings Sodbusters scored only one-run off four hits as Western Nebraska shut down the Sodbusters offense to even the series winning, 4-1.

Reagan Haas pitched 5.0 innings for the Pioneers. He allowed three hits and no-runs. In relief, Chandler Young, Ryan Flippo and Michael Callia pitched 3.0 innings allowing only one-hit. Grant Schmidt serviced that one hit which was a solo home-run in the sixth inning.

For Hastings, Jeremy Schneider struggled out of the gate allowing three runs in only two innings before JM Kelly pulled him for Ray Ray Douglas. Douglas pitched 6.0 innings, giving up one hit and striking out nine.

The loss drops Hastings to 1.5 games behind Fremont in the Clark Division. Rubber game between the Sodbusters and Pioneers is Thursday night at Oregon Trail Park, first pitch at 7:35 p.m.
