KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Kearney will have been around for 150 years in 2023, and the Buffalo County Historical Society needs your help to commemorate the anniversary.

The BCHS is in the beginning phases of assembling The Buffalo County Sesquicentennial. Similar to many of the centennial books from the 1970s and 80s, the Sesquicentennial book will feature general history of the area and family histories from people in Buffalo County.

The index will include: The History of Buffalo County and Surrounding Area; Community Service and Organizations (Past and Present); Churches, Schools, Parks, and Cemeteries; Buffalo County Businesses (Past and Present); and Buffalo County Families. Each section will be broken down into smaller articles.

A good portion of the book will feature family histories. Descriptions short or long are welcome, along with up to two photos. Submissions will be published on a first-come-first-serve basis.

You can find more information on the Sesquicentennial and guidelines on how to write your family history here.
