Sodbusters drop to second in Clark Division standings
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - After taking first place back in the Clark Division Tuesday night, the Sodbusters fall back to second place, losing to the Fremont Moo 9-8.
Both teams scored two runs a piece in the first inning, and the score would stay that way through six innings.
The Moo would break through in the seventh though, where they crossed home plate six times in the frame to grab the 8-2 lead.
In the bottom of the inning, Efry Cervantes stayed red hot with a two out triple. He finished the game 2-5 at the plate.
Hastings native Mike Boeve followed the three-bagger up with an RBI single, one of Boeve’s three hits on the night, to cut the deficit to five.
The deficit was just three heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Sodbusters would cut it to 9-8, and had the tying run 90 feet from home plate, but fall just short.
The Busters will try to grab first place back Thursday night at Duncan Field in the last of eight straight games against the Moo. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
