Warmer temperatures make their return over the next several days

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The day is starting of mostly sunny for many, but there are some low clouds and fog over Southwest and West Central portions of Nebraska. Some of that will gradually clear up through the day. With partly to mostly sunny skies, temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s and lower 90s with the warmest temperatures in the west. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop in Western Nebraska and Eastern Colorado and make a push eastward into western portions of the Local4 viewing area. Severe storms will be possible in western and northern portions of the Local4 viewing area. Those storms are expected to diminish and weaken as they push more into Central and Eastern Nebraska later in the night. Look for overnight lows in the mid to upper 60s and lower 70s.

For Wednesday, there is a small chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day, mainly in Eastern Nebraska. Otherwise, it’ll be a partly to mostly sunny day. Toward the evening, showers and thunderstorms could once again develop over Western Nebraska and push eastward across the area overnight. Severe weather could be an issue with damaging wind gusts and large hail the main threats. Expect high temperatures on Wednesday in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Lows will again be in the 60s and lower 70s.

The very warm to hot temperatures will continue through the rest of the week and into the first half of the weekend. Some slight chances for rain and thunderstorms will continue, mainly during the evening and overnight hours. Look for highs on Thursday ranging from the mid 80s east to the upper 90s west. Mostly highs in the 90s are expected on Friday. Saturday will still be in the upper 80s and low to mid 90s. A cold front is expected to bring some relief for early next week. Mainly dry conditions are expected Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, highs will mostly be in the low to mid 80s. On Monday, highs will be in the upper 70s and low to mid 80s.
