BROKEN BOW, Neb. (KNOP) - The Broken Bow Middle School and High School building is closed today after a staff member tests positive for COVID-19, according to the school district’s website.

All Friday, August 14 classes in the building are cancelled. North Park Elementary remains open this morning with regular classes and the normal Friday dismissal time.

Broken Bow Public Schools Superintendent Darren Tobey released the following statement on the matter:

“BBPS was informed late last [Thursday] night that a staff member tested positive for COVID.  In working with the Loup Basin Health District, we decided to close the MS/HS buildings today, August 14th, as a precautionary measure.  The PK-5 buildings remain open and are running a normal school day. This staff member was not in attendance at school yesterday. We are working closely with the Loup Basin Health District to contact trace, and anyone asked to quarantine will be contacted by the Loup Basin Health District. All school events and practices are suspended for the time being.”

This is a developing story.
