Women’s pro football coming to Central Nebraska

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A new kind of sport is heading to the Midwest in Nebraska in Hastings/Grand Island. A women’s pro football team will call Hastings/Grand Island home for the 2021 season. Please Welcome the Nebraska Xplosion .

The Xplosion will become the sixth member of the NWFL for the 2021 season. The National Women’s Football League has teams based in Topeka, Kansas, New Orleans, Louisiana, Franklin, Tennessee, Amarillo, Texas and Yukon, Oklahoma we are looking to add couple more teams to the Midwest Division

“We are excited to bring a women’s sport to Hastings/Grand Island” said Director of Operations Shawn Smith.

NWFL will kickoff April of 2021 with 8 game schedule plus college football playoff system.

The Hastings/Grand Island is currently seeking coaching staff and front office and plus players who are 17 and older that want to give women’s pro football a shot. No Experience is necessary. All ladies are welcome to come out.

“Hastings/Grand Island has a rich sports tradition and we are looking to add to the rich history of sports in Hastings/Grand Island” said Smith
