HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings Catholic Schools recently sent out a letter to parents to inform them of a confirmed COVID-19 case within the school system. Here is the letter sent from school leaders:

Dear Saint Cecilia Middle & High School Families,

We recently learned of a positive case of COVID-19 at St. Cecilia Middle & High School. We have been in contact with the local health department and are working with these professionals to identify all potential contacts that may have taken place at the school and any other actions we should take as a school. The local health department is contacting staff members, and the families of students believed to have had close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual in our school.

The COVID-19 positive individual is required to isolate and will not return to school until she/he has satisfied the quarantine and recovery conditions advised by the health department and required by the school. Due to privacy laws, we do not identify the individual that has tested positive for COVID-19 or her/his identifying information (e.g. grade level or position within the school).

As always, please continue to review the daily COVID-19 screening questions before your child to comes school. Staff members will continue to conduct the daily COVID-19 self-screening before coming to school. This is a vital tool to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 within our school community.

The health and safety of your children and our staff is our highest priority. We will continue using the enhanced health and safety measures adopted by the school. We will continue to follow the advice of the local health department and will inform you promptly if we are directed to take any additional action by the local health department.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will do our best to answer your questions, while also complying with privacy laws. You may also contact the local health department or your health care provider.

Please continue to pray for our students and staff.

Sincerely,

Fr. Cyrus R. Rowan
