HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings College opened their season Wednesday night at Lloyd Wilson Field with a dominating 3-0 win over Kansas Wesleyan.

The Broncos kicked off their first season under head coach Jade Ovendale on a very cold and rainy night. They headed to the locker room up 1-0 at the half, and came out firing right away in the second.

11 minutes into the second half Taren Newman scored on an unassisted corner kick to put the Broncos up two.

Just a few minutes later, the Broncos were given a free kick right outside of the Coyotes' box. Junior Jacqueline Gilbert made Kansas Wesleyan pay for the mistake, tacking on another goal. The goal was her second of the game.

The team would then coast the rest of the way to victory.

The Broncos will be back in action this Saturday in Wichita, Kansas against University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
