HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings scored eight-runs in the third inning to help them down Class B’s top-ranked team Omaha Skutt, 8-4. The win gave the Tigers their own invite title and it avenged the Tigers loss to the Skyhawks in last year’s consolation game in the 2019 State Tournament.

In the third inning, KK Laux started things off with a single to left which scored one run. Afterwards, Faith Molina and Peytin Hudson delivered two huge hits which brought in four runs. Hastings scored all its runs in the third.

In the circle, Faith Molina pitched 5.0 innings, giving up four earned runs while striking out four. A big moment came in the fourth inning, Omaha Skutt was threatening with runners-on and only one out but a big catch from McKinsey Long at second base fueled a double play to end the threat.

The win improves the Tigers to 18-1 and after beating second-ranked Norris in the semifinal it is safe to assume Hastings will be the top-ranked team in Class B when the rankings come out Monday, Sept. 21.
