Broncos outshoot Lancers by 18 in home opener
Hastings College dominates Mount Marty in home opener, totaling 27 shots and 23 shots on goal.
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings College men’s soccer team defeated Mount Marty 3-0 on Monday night at Lloyd Wilson Field.
The Hastings offense created plenty of opportunities racking up 27 total shots including 23 shots on goal.
Lukas Goetz would get things going as he would tip the ball off his head perfectly leading him towards the goal where he his a frozen rope from 12-yards out and the 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.
Hastings kept up the pressure throughout the first half but the score remained 1-0 at halftime.Early in the second half, Goetz would get free down the right side and would send a perfect cross where Tom Steging (JR/Liverpool, England) put the header away for the 2-0 lead in the 57th minute.
To the Lancers' credit, they made a few late threats but Jesus Parra made a few big saves as he finished the night with seven saves which was one away from a career high.
Goetz would finalize the scoring as Will Pointon found him with a perfect through ball after a critical save from Parra and Goetz put another one in the back of the net for the 3-0 lead in the 88th minute.
Hastings outshot Mount Marty 27-to-9 and 23-to-8 in shots on goal.
Hastings improves to 2-0 (2-0) on the year and will be back in action Thursday, Sept. 24 as Jamestown comes to town with kick-off set for 8:00 p.m. on Lloyd Wilson Field.
