HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Today will be a cool day, even for early October. Highs will top out between upper 50s north and mid 60s southwest. Winds will be breezy out of the north northwest at 12 to 22 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Expect plenty of sunshine. With winds dying down tonight, many will see the coldest night of the fall season so far. There’s potential for more widespread frost. Low temperatures will be somewhat dependent on how much cloud cover we get. I’ll call it a partly cloudy night. We’ll see lows in the low to mid 30s. Plan on taking care of any tender vegetation that you would like to see survive for awhile longer.

Friday will start off mostly sunny. There will be some increasing clouds in the afternoon. After the colder start, it’ll be pretty decent in the afternoon with highs back into the mid 60s east to the mid 70s out west. Another cold front will dive south Friday night into Saturday morning. This one brings us our only chance, albeit a small chance for some light rain late Friday night and early Saturday morning. Highs on Saturday will be a little cooler than Friday. Look for temperatures to top out mostly in the 60s.

Saturday night into Sunday morning will be chilly again with patchy frost. Look for lows in the mid to upper 30s and lower 40s. Sunshine returns Sunday as highs will be in the upper 50s northeast to the mid 60s southwest. Warmer temperatures will be return much of next week as highs in the 70s and 80s make their return. Dry weather will continue with plenty of sunshine.
