LEXINGTON, Neb. (KSNB) - Northwest entered the Central Conference Softball Tournament on a 12-game winning streak. They left the tournament with a 15-game winning streak to go along with a conference title.

The Vikings beat the Seward Bluejays in the championship game 4-2, after winning their first two games of the day over Holdrege 12-8, and Adams Central 10-0.

The tournament title is the team’s fourth tournament title this season, but this one was definitely the biggest one.

“Oh it’s a great win, our girls have been playing really well. We talked to them coming into this saying there’s no reason we can’t come in and win this whole tournament," Northwest Head Coach Mitch Sadd said. "Winning a tournament like this is just going to give you that momentum going into the postseason, and that’s what we need. With the new rankings and everything coming out, we’re sitting right where we want to be. Now we just gotta go into districts and sub-districts and all of that and finish out the year.”

Sub-district play gets started this Monday. The Vikings will be the second seed in the B-8 Subdistrict in Hastings. They will open things up against GICC, while top seeded Hastings will kick things off against Aurora.
