Grand Island police arrest one teen for robbing another teen

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A 19-year-old Grand Island man is in jail in connection with an armed robbery of a 15-year-old boy Monday.
Police arrested Maliki Mitchell Tuesday in connection with a robbery that was reported Monday. Mitchell is charged with robbery, second degree assault, burglary, first degree false imprisonment, terroristic threats, two counts of using a deadly weapon to commit a felony and two counts of possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
Police said the robbery happened just before 2 p.m. Monday in the 800 Block of West Charles Street. The victim, a 15-year-old male, was held at gun point, assaulted and had his keys taken from him. The victim also stated the assailants struck him with the firearm. demanded property from him and then threatened to return and kill him and his mother.
Police arrested Mitchell Tuesday and he’s being held in the Hall County Jail on $250,000 bond. Police are also on the lookout for an accomplice in the Monday robbery.
Mitchell was also charged with another count of robbery in connection with an incident in August at a Grand Island trailer court.
The max penalty for felony robbery is 50 years in prison. Mitchell’s next court hearing is scheduled in November.
