Another frigid overnight and cold day Tuesday
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Sunshine returns for Tuesday, but warmer air will be slow to return. Highs will be in the 30s, but will likely be impacted by how much snow is on the ground in some locations. Those that saw very little snow may actually make it to 40° Southwest winds shouldn’t be too strong at 5 to 15 mph. It’ll be another cold night with lows in the mid 10s to mid 20s around the area.
Wednesday will be a bit warmer yet, but again will likely be impacted by snow cover. This would especially be true for those to the north where the higher totals were observed. We’ll see highs in the mid to upper 40s and lower 50s.
A strong low pressure system will pass to our south Wednesday night into Thursday. The northern edge of the precipitation field may glance by the southern portions of the Local4 viewing area. Far Southern Nebraska and Northern Kansas would have a chance for rain. As the rain pushes to the east Thursday afternoon, there will be some partial clearing. Temperatures will likely take a step back with the extra clouds around. Highs will mostly be in the 40s.
Some much nicer fall weather comes in just in time for the end of the week and the upcoming weekend. Expect plenty of sunshine during this time. Highs on Friday will push into the 50s and lower 60s with the warmest temperatures southwest. Halloween Saturday is shaping up to be a really nice day with highs into the upper 50s and low to mid 60s. Along with being good weather for the trick-or-treaters in the evening, the weather should be good if you’ve having a Husker football gathering in the afternoon. It may cool back just a bit for Sunday with highs in the 50s and lower 60s. The nicer temperatures should stick around into early next week.
One final note, don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour Saturday night as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end. That means an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning.
