HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - It’s quite a cold start to the day and while it will warm up more than yesterday, it will still remain quite chilly for late October. Highs later today will reach climb to between 35° and 41° for the majority of the Local4 viewing area. Skies will be sunny for most with just a few extra clouds in the southeastern parts of the area. But the mess of wintry precipitation to our south will remain to our south and southeast. Skies will remain mainly clear overnight as temperatures drop back to well below average lows once again. We’ll see low temperatures from the mid 10s to the mid 20s.

Warmer temperatures are on tap tomorrow as the day begins with sunshine, but sees some increasing clouds from the south in the afternoon. Those extra clouds, along with some areas with remaining snow cover will keep temperatures cooler compared to others. The warmest highs in the lower 50s will be from Southeast Nebraska to East Central Nebraska. Farther south, expect upper 40s. Farther north, expect mid to upper 40s.

Cloud cover will be on the increase for Wednesday night as an area of low pressure moves to our south. This could result in some light rain for the extreme southern part of the Local4 viewing area (Northern Kansas). It’s more likely that the precipitation will remain farther south near the Interstate 70 corridor. The extra clouds will hold temperatures up a little with lows Wednesday night in the mid to upper 20s and lower 30s.

Some clouds may stick around Thursday morning before clearing out in the afternoon. Highs will remain below average on Thursday from the lower 40s east to the lower 50s west. Plenty of sun is expected on Friday with warmer temperatures upper 50s and lower 60s. A cold front will dive south through the area Saturday, bringing some breezy afternoon winds out of the north northwest. This will draw in some cooler air up north. Highs will range from the upper 40s northwest to the mid 60s southeast. Barely any clouds are expected as skies remain sunny.

Sunday will be a bit cooler for most with highs from the upper 40s northeast to the upper 50s west. Skies will be sunny. A nice jump in temperatures comes on Monday with widespread 60s anticipated with plenty of sunshine. The nice weather with above average temperatures will continue through most of next week.
