HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Adams County election office Friday released the final official vote counts from Tuesday’s election verified by the county canvassing board.

The board confirmed Tuesday’s decision by Hastings voters to deny a rebuild of the 16th street viaduct. The final official vote was 5,243 against the repairs and 5,193 for the $12.8 million project.

The viaduct has been closed since May 2019 because of safety reasons. The city had gone through several iterations of what to do with the aging structure.
