HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The reason it’s taking a while to finish counting votes for this year’s election races is there were a lot of votes to count.

Election commissioners in Hall, Adams and Buffalo counties reported turnout near or above 70%.

  • Hall county voters turned out at a rate of 69.9%. 24,434 voters cast ballots from a pool of registered voters totaling 35,074. Election commissioner Tracy Overstreet told Local4 news that she expects that percentage to increase.
  • Adams county has 19,890 registered voters. 14,676 of them voted in this election for a turnout of 74%.
  • 23,700 Buffalo county voters cast ballots. There are 31,180 registered voters in Buffalo county for a turnout rate of 76%.
  • Nebraska Secretary of State reported that of 1,267,366 registered voters, 936,106 cast ballots for a 74% voter turn-out.
