St. Cecilia standout athlete signs letter of intent to Hastings College
Hastings College Women’s Basketball officially adds Hawkette forward Katharine Hamburger
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - St. Cecilia senior Katharine Hamburger is officially a Bronco.
The two sport standout signed her letter of intent Thursday afternoon to join the Hastings College Women’s Basketball team. Hamburger was a big part of the Hawkette’s back to back C2 State Championships. She also was a star on the volleyball court.
Hamburger chose basketball because she said it was a better fit, and picked Hastings College over Great Plains Athletic Conference rival Concordia.
Both Hamburger and Hastings College Women’s Basketball coach Jina Douglas agree that it is a perfect fit.
“As a team they’re really close and they have a great coach," Hamburger said. "Just to play for Hastings, and stay in Hastings close to my family and all of my friends, is going to be a lot of fun.”
“I think anytime you can have a great person that comes from a great family helps, and her ability to be a post player and score on the block does too," Douglas said. "Someone that’s very mobile, can score on the block, go inside-outside, really stood out to us as well. Anytime you can get a player like that from a great program will only help you.”
Before heading to Hastings College, Hamburger will try to help lead the Hawkettes to a third straight state title.
