Warm weather gone heading into the weekend
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The streak of warm weather ends heading into Friday, as a cold front that passed on Thursday brings cooler weather today. Expect highs to only be in the 50s around the viewing area - which will still be above normal for this time of year. Also, expect less sunshine and more clouds during the day as well.
Latest forecast model trends continue to shift the best chance for rain southward with much of it missing the Local4 viewing area, so chances have diminished somewhat Saturday and Saturday night. Snow still does not look to be a main factor, so only slight chances during the colder hours will be possible. Saturday will be a chillier day, but with the lower rain chances, I have brought forecast highs up and they will actually be close to average between 45° and 50°.
Sunshine returns on Sunday along with some breezy winds. Despite more sunshine, it will only be a little warmer on Sunday with highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s.
The other big change to the forecast is to increase our chances for rain Monday through Tuesday. A system that looked like it would mostly stay to our south has trended northward in the recent forecast models. The chance for rain should remain lower Monday with the better chance later in the day. With the increase in clouds, temperatures will be held down in the mid to upper 40s for highs. There could be some 50s out west where more sun is expected. Winds are expected to be rather strong out of the south southeast, possibly gusting over 35 mph. Expect rain chances to increase Monday night into Tuesday. The good news is that winds remain breezy out of a southerly direction, that should keep temperatures from dropping much Monday night. This means that this will be mainly a rain event with snow likely not having much of an impact for our area. Highs on Tuesday will be in the mid 40s to mid 50s and may depend on how quickly a cool front passes through.
Wednesday will be a nicer day as sunshine returns. High temperatures will mostly be in the 50s. It may still get to around 60° in the southwest. Temperatures may trend just a little cooler for Thanksgiving Thursday and Black Friday, but will stay near to slightly above average in the mid to upper 40s and lower 50s. Conditions should remain quiet. Warmer temperatures may arrive just beyond the holiday.
