GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Isaac Traudt (2019 stats: 16.7 PPG, 6.2 RPG) is the star of the Grand Island boys basketball team. The 6′9″ junior has 26 Division I offers and gained 30-pounds in the off-season knowing defenses will sell out to stop him.

The question remains is who will be around him after the Islanders lost four starters and seven seniors from a year ago.

“They’re kind of used to those roles and understanding how to make big time shots and big time situations,” Head coach Jeremiah Slough said. “I think these guys understand that the ball has to go through Isaac but I also think they’re not scared of the moment. They’re not scared to make a play either.”

“We have a lot of new pieces that we still have to get figured out,” Traudt said. “Get some better chemistry going. I think defensively with our length we’ll be tough to beat and offensively we have a lot of tools that we can work with. So I think we’ll be pretty good.”

Islanders open their season tomorrow, Dec. 3 on the road at Creighton Prep.
