KACF holds 8th Give Where You Live Day
178 nonprofits and causes to donate to in 2020
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - After a record-breaking year in 2020 the Kearney Area Community Foundation is holding its 8th annual Give Where You Live Day from 12:01 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 3.
In 2019 KACF brought in $1.2 million to the various causes and nonprofits and has a goal of $1 million in 2020. Well aware everyone has been affected by the pandemic, organizers just hope people who can give will give generously.
“It helps nonprofits make up any revenue that they’ve lost due to missing events or increase activities like helping with food insecurities or housing,” President and CEO of KACF Judi Sickler said. “This really will help nonprofits in all of our communities end on an upbeat note after kind of a dreary year.”
There are 178 nonprofits and causes to donate to this year. A full list, including descriptions, can be found HERE.
Things are being done slightly different this year in order to keep everyone safe in regard to the pandemic. From 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. KACF will have people sitting outside the office to pickup donations from vehicles without contact. The foundation will also be taking calls and drive to people’s houses to pick up any donations.
The number to call is (308) 237-3114.
In order to be eligible to partake in Give Where You Live nonprofits and causes had to pledge to keep 80 percent of donations in the Kearney area community, something organizers prioritize to ensure that a large majority of donations is in fact being put right back into the area people care about.
To see a running tally of donations already brought in or to donate, you can visit Give Where You Live’s official website.
