HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - One Hastings hotel received damage early Friday morning after a vehicle ran into it. Crews were called to the Quality Inn just before 12:30 a.m. on a report of a vehicle driving into a building.

Hastings Police said the driver of the vehicle was heading west on 33rd Street and drove into one of the pillars of the hotel. Caution tape was put up around the front entrance of the hotel as the pillar and awning suffered damage. When police arrived the driver was not inside the pickup truck. They located 30-year-old Sterling Shafer of Springfield, Illinois inside the motel.

Hastings Police say Shafer was arrested for leaving the scene of a property accident, no operator’s license, driving under the influence, refusal to submit to a preliminary breath test, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

There were no injuries reported from the collision.
