GIPD warns about scam
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Police are warning against another telephone scam.
Police said they received several calls Monday about a caller who says he’s warning about some type of legal action. The caller asks for a social security number and bank information.
The scammers then spoof the phone number for the Grand Island Police Department, and then call back pretending to be an officer. If you have any concern that the Grand Island Police Department needs to talk to you, tell the caller that you will call the police department and hang up the phone. Grand Island police warn never give out personal information over the phone.
Police are asking Grand Island area residents to share this information with family and friends, especially those that don’t have social media.
