GRAND ISLAND Neb. (KSNB) - The Central District Health Department was among the first in Central Nebraska to administer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday.

“At this time, we have enough doses to begin providing Central District First Responders with vaccinations. These few doses will go quickly but we expect additional doses next week,” the department said in a statement on their Facebook page. They went on to say, “Check back often to see what groups are being prioritized as we move into the holidays and into the New Year. Vaccine is very important in our pandemic fight, but we all must continue to take precautions. Keep wearing your masks, stay home when you are sick, keep group activities to a minimum, and wash your hands!”

Those who receive the first vaccine will need to be administered a follow-up vaccine shot for it to become fully effective.
