Community organizations plan Christmas meal in Kearney
2020 marks the 49th year of the Community Christmas Dinner
KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - Kearney First United Methodist Church’s annual Community Christmas Dinner is typically put on by and held at the church. This year the church is partnering with 11 other organizations and holding the event at a local restaurant.
The meal is free and will be contactless pickup at Mom and Dad’s BBQ on 222 West 42nd St. in Kearney. The Associate Pastor at Kearney FUMC believes there could be roughly 3,000 meals given out.
“Well it’s just a way we can give back,” Pastor Melody Adams said. “We think about Christmas time as being the greatest gift ever given to us through our Savior and it’s a way we can give back to the community and help those who may not be fortunate enough to have a meal for Christmas or maybe they’re alone for Christmas.”
If you’d like the meal to be delivered to you, you must call (308) 234-3880 by the end of the day on Dec. 23.
First Church is partnering with Buffalo County Community Partners, Cash-Wa Distributing, the City of Kearney, East Lawn Mission Trailer, Hot Meals USA, Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce, Kearney Area Community Foundation, Kearney Jubilee Center, Salvation Army and the United Way of the Kearney Area.
