HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Adams Central is known for having one of the best football teams in Nebraska. Since 2011, they have made it the semifinals.

It was not until this year they were finally able to break through. It was their first state championship game appearance since finishing runner-up in 1993.

The Patriots eventually lost to Pierce in the title game, but it takes nothing away from this group who were not expected to be in the title game given the talent they lost from last year’s 11-1 team.

Adams Central entered the Class C-1 playoffs as the eighth-seed with a record 7-2. The Patriots took down top-seed Ashland-Greenwood in the quarterfinals, winning in dominant fashion, 35-6.

The Patriots finished their season in the title game for only the second time in school history and went through one of the toughest schedules in Class C-1 to get there.
