Hastings High football hosts Class B semifinal game
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Hastings High had not been to the Class B semifinals in football since 2000. This years Tiger team ended that streak entering the playoffs as the two-seed with a record of 7-1.
Hastings had one of the most exciting offenses in the state averaging 37.9 points a game. Senior quarterback Jarrett Synek had a terrific season under center throwing for 2,903 yards, 33 touchdowns and 11 rushing touchdowns.
Defensively, the Tigers had a host of guys who made plays such as: Landon Jacobus, Blake Davis, Beau Dreher, Jett Samuelson and Austin Nauert. This season they had 10 interceptions and 12 fumble recoveries.
With a talented roster, Hastings came into the season with high expectations and delivered this season. They finished with a record of 9-2 and gave eventual Class B state champs Elkhorn their toughest test in the playoffs.
