Huskers hang on for win over Rutgers

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Ashley Scoggin made a pair of late free throws and Rutgers’ missed a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer, as Nebraska held on for a 53-50 win over the Scarlet Knights. Scoggin played a key role in the victory. The sophomore guard hit back-to-back 3-point field goals in the second half to snap an 0-for-11 start from beyond the arc. Scoggin later added another long-range shot, in addition to swishing both free throw attempts with :11 remaining in the game. Scoggin finished with 11 points.

Nebraska was led by Sam Haiby’s 16 points, while Isabelle Bourne added 11 for the Huskers.

Head coach Amy Williams credits her team’s defensive effort against the Scarlet Knights. The Huskers limited Rutgers to 33 percent shooting. The Scarlet Knights finished 2-of-16 from the 3-point arc.

Nebraska was able to overcome 19 turnovers.
