You can go to Fonner Park next month, but...
Seating limited to 75% capacity
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Fonner Park is looking forward to the horse racing season which starts next month. Racing fans can go to the track, but COVID-19 precautions will require some changes.
In a letter to racing fans who had reserved tables for the season, the track announced that indoor seating will be limited to 75% capacity. The letter, posted on the Fonner Park website, also indicates that face masks or coverings will be required whenever a person is not seated at a table. The track will not provide face masks.
The letter further stated that while current Directed Health Measures (DHMs) have evolved to where mask requirements and social distancing are recommended only, Fonner Park will require those measures indoors during the racing season.
The letter indicated that some reserved table have been eliminated and patrons would be asked to choose another available table elsewhere or request a refund. Some fans who had reserved more than one table would be asked to relinquish one of them.
The letter also that most patrons who had reserved tables last year would not see a change in their reservations.
Fonner Park CEO Chris Kotulak wrote that fans who want to change seating can call the track at 308-382-4515 between Jan 18-21. Seating sales will be open to the general public Jan 28.
COVID-19 DHMs required Fonner Park to close last year a few weeks after the season started. The track ran races multiple days without indoor fans.
