Hastings YMCA exceeds fundraiser goal
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings YMCA has wrapped up its annual fundraising campaign and came out over their goal.
The organization aimed to raise $230,000 and ended up with over $232,000. With attendance down about 20 percent they are thankful their members are still supporting them through the pandemic. The funds will play a big role in their programs and services in 2021.
“We don’t turn anybody away for lack of being able to pay and all the money that we raise goes to offset those discounts that we give. We do a lot of free programs in town,” CEO Troy Stickels said.
Even with attendance at the Y being down this year, the members have shown strong support as they navigate COVID protocols.
“All these people that donate to us know that they’re giving back and helping the community through that donation and we’re trying to help as many people as we can participate in what we do because we do have something from infants to seniors,” Stickels said.
He also said there are a lot of big programs coming up this year that will be announced at a later date. People who want to partake in the YMCA programs but feel they can’t afford it can reach out to see if they qualify for financial assistance.
