MADISON, Neb. (KSNB) — Two Grand Island men were killed following a weekend accident in northeast Nebraska.
The Madison County Sheriff said Dario Garcia Tercero, 25, and Rosilio Renato De Pas, 26, were dead at the scene. The Sheriff’s office said the accident happened Saturday Jan 23 on Highway 81 about two miles north of Madison in northeast Nebraska.
The accident report indicates Tercero’s van was south-bound when it hit a patch of black ice, skidded across the median and into oncoming traffic. The van overturned on the passenger side and was struck by a north-bound pickup driven by Tristan Bierman, 22, Madison. Bierman was treated and released at a Norfolk hospital. Both Bierman and Tercero were wearing seat belts, but De Pas was not.
The north-bound lane of Highway 81 was closed for about four hours while emergency workers cleared the scene.
The sheriff’s office said drugs or alcohol were not considered to be a factor.
