GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Every staff member at Grand Island Senior High School, the Indra House and the Success Academy who requested the COVID-19 vaccine will receive their first dose later today.

The vaccine was offered through the GIPS COVID-19 vaccination program.

Vaccines will be given out from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the West Gym and Grand Island Senior High. The decision was made to provide the staff members with vaccine because of the size and higher transmission rate of the student body.

“Tihs represents another step taken by the district, with assistance of the Central District Health Department, to ensure our staff is provided every resource necessary during the pandemic and beyond,” GIPS Superintendent Dr. Tawana Grover said. “Our priority is, and always has been, safety.”
