CCC warming up the community with coat drive
Warm Coats from Warm Hearts in its fourth year
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Now in its fourth year, Warm Coats from Warm Hearts at Central Community College is equipping students and community members with winter clothing.
The drive runs on an honor system: if someone needs a coat, gloves, a hat. scarf or even boots, they show up and pick out what they need. When supplies run out the drive ends.
“We were seeing people in the hallways who were not having much of a coat in very cold weather and we had determined that it was a chance to get some help to our community and their families,” Student Activities Director Nick Freelend said.
In the first year, Freeland said they were able to serve about 30 families; a sign that there was a need and the drive should continue.
Staff, students and community members can drop items off in the lobby of Central Community College in Grand Island during operating hours.
Any questions on how the process works or what may be needed can be addressed to (308) 398-7417.
