HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Jack Bowe, former News Director of KHAS-TV, passed away Tuesday at age 78.

Family members said that Bowe died at his home in Elk Rapids, MI.

Bowe graduated from Notre Dame and then served as a captain in the U.S. Army. He began his journalism career in 1967 working in newspapers and television in South Bend, IN, Youngstown, OH, Monterey, CA, Bakersfield, CA, Panama City, FL and Reno, NV.

He retired after spending four years as News Director at KHAS-TV, now known as KSNB Local4, between 2010 and 2014.

He won an Emmy award and was inducted into the Nevada Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his wife, four children, and two grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the John R. Bowe Memorial Fund at the University of Notre Dame.
