GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Ron Hester, the Grand Island Senior High School Academy Principal for Education, Law & Public Safety, will retire at the end of the school year after 28 years of service to education.

Hester was hired by GIPS in August 2010 and has served as the principal of the Academy for Education, Law & Public Safety since GIPS transitioned to the Academy model.

“Ron Hester is an educational leader that has built his leadership style on trust,” said Grand Island Senior High School Principal Jeff Gilbertson. “Ron has centered his decisions on the depth of his commitments to students by always following through on what he says he will do. His presence in our school will be greatly missed, but we are all so grateful and honored to have worked and learned with him during his tenure.”

GIPS thanks Mr. Hester for his many years of service to the district and to the greater Grand Island community.
