KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Nebraska-Kearney women’s basketball team is in a three-way tie atop the MIAA standings with Central Missouri and Fort Hays State. All three have 16-2 records with four games left to play.

With the conference tournament two weeks away the race is only going to get more interesting as the season winds down.

“It’s fun. Again, it’s a typical MIAA season just in the fact that they’re are a lot of really good teams,” UNK women’s basketball coach Carrie Eighmey said. “Teams that can beat you on any given day or night. You have to be ready for all of them. So, you know we’re getting closer to the postseason. We just have to stay really locked in and focus on one game at a time.”

UNK does not hold the tiebreaker against Fort Hays State after they lost both their games to the Tigers.

The Lopers host Central Missouri this Thursday, Feb. 18, where they will go for the season sweep over the Mules. If UNK finishes atop the MIAA standings it would be the first time in program history.
